Installing

Windows

1

Run the installer

Open the file you just downloaded. Arasso installs for your account only, so Windows won't ask for administrator rights.

2

If Windows warns you

New apps can trigger a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

3

Sign in and start

Open Arasso, sign in with your email, pick the language you read, and press Start when your meeting begins. Drag the caption box wherever you want it.

4

Set up the interpreter (optional)

The interpreter's voice reaches your meeting through VB-CABLE, a free virtual audio cable. Arasso's setup sends you to vb-audio.com: unzip the download, run VBCABLE_Setup_x64.exe as administrator, accept the Windows prompt, and restart. Then pick “CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)” as the microphone in your meeting app.

VB-CABLE is donationware by VB-Audio (www.vb-cable.com).

macOS

1

Drag into Applications

Open the disk image you just downloaded, drag Arasso into your Applications folder, and launch it from there.

2

Allow system audio

On first run, macOS asks for permission to capture system audio. That is how Arasso hears the meeting for captions.

3

Sign in and start

Sign in with your email, pick the language you read, and press Start when your meeting begins. Drag the caption box wherever you want it.

4

Set up the interpreter (optional)

Arasso's setup installs its own “Arasso Microphone” and asks for your administrator password once. Then pick “Arasso Microphone” as the microphone in your meeting app.

What you need

  • Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11, 64-bit; or macOS 14.6 or later on an Apple silicon Mac.
  • An internet connection — speech is transcribed and translated in the cloud.
  • The meeting audio playing on this computer. Headset or speakers both work.
  • Captions need no microphone: Arasso listens to the meeting, not to you. The interpreter needs one, and headphones are recommended so it never hears itself.
