Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Arasso named in section 15 (“Arasso”, “we”, “us”) for your use of the Arasso desktop application and the arasso.im website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

Arasso provides real-time transcription and translation of the audio playing on your computer, typically meetings and calls, displayed as captions in an on-screen overlay, and, where available, an interpreter that speaks a synthesised translation of your voice into your meeting. The Service is currently in beta: features may change, and occasional interruptions are expected.

AI output can be wrong. Captions, translations and interpretation are produced automatically by AI and can contain errors, omissions or mistranslations, including of names, numbers and technical terms. Check anything important with the other party, and do not rely on the Service where a misunderstanding could cause harm, such as in medical, legal, safety or emergency situations.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account, and you are responsible for activity that occurs under it. Your account is personal to you and is for use by one person. Keep your sign-in method (email inbox or Google account) secure. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service; if you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms on your behalf.

Business accounts. We may designate accounts used by an organisation as Business accounts. For Business accounts we do not store conversation content on our servers, as described in our Privacy Policy. Each person in the organisation still uses their own account.

3. Free plan, trials and gift codes

Any free allowance, trial or gift code is granted at our discretion, per account and per device, and we may change or withdraw it at any time. Gift codes and promotional credits give access for the period or amount stated, have no cash value, and cannot be exchanged or refunded.

4. Subscriptions, billing and refunds

4.1 Billing

  • Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis via Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.
  • We may limit concurrent use of your account, including the number of devices that can use the Service at the same time.
  • If we change prices, the new price applies from your next billing period, and we will notify you in advance.
  • Interpreter hours are metered by the clock while the interpreter is running. When your hours run out, the sentence being interpreted is allowed to finish before the interpreter stops; that time counts against your balance, so it may briefly fall a few seconds below zero, and the shortfall is deducted from your next purchase of hours.

4.2 Cancelling

You can cancel anytime from the billing portal in the app or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period: you keep your paid access until then, and you will not be charged again. We do not provide pro-rata refunds for the unused remainder of a billing period outside the money-back guarantee below.

4.3 Changing plans

You can change plans anytime from Manage subscription in the app.

  • Upgrading starts a new billing period the day you upgrade. On a monthly plan you pay the new plan’s full price and your unused hours carry over. On a yearly plan, the unused part of your year is credited toward the new plan.
  • Downgrading takes effect at the end of your current period.
  • Yearly plans can switch only to other yearly plans.

4.4 Refunds

Money-back guarantee. If you have not used the Service during the current billing period, email [email protected] within 14 days of your first purchase (30 days for yearly plans) and we will refund it, less the Stripe processing fees charged on the original payment. Refunds go to your original payment method and typically arrive within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.

Using the free allowance before you buy does not affect your eligibility: the guarantee looks only at whether you used the Service after the purchase you want refunded. The guarantee applies to your first purchase of a paid plan. It does not reset with each renewal or if you resubscribe after cancelling.

Unintended renewals. If you were charged for a renewal you did not intend, for example because you meant to cancel but missed the renewal date, contact us within 14 days of the charge and we will work with you on a fair outcome.

Billing errors. If you believe you were charged incorrectly (duplicate charges, wrong amount, charges after cancellation), contact us and we will refund any amount charged in error.

How to request a refund. Email [email protected] from the address on your account with the subject “Refund request”, and include the approximate date of the charge. We aim to respond within 2 business days.

Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded, including a right to a refund for a major failure of the Service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others, including recording or monitoring others’ communications where you do not have the right to do so;
  • resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service;
  • create more than one account, or use another person’s account, to obtain additional free allowance or to circumvent any limit, suspension, or charge;
  • bypass, disable, or interfere with any usage, device, or concurrency limit, or with how we meter or bill your use, including by altering or spoofing device identifiers;
  • access or use the Service by automated means such as bots, scripts, or scrapers, through any client other than the Arasso app and website as we provide them, or by connecting to our servers directly;
  • use the Service to build or improve a competing product or service, including by benchmarking or analysing the Service for that purpose;
  • decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the app (including its virtual microphone driver), or otherwise attempt to derive its source code, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction;
  • attempt to probe, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure.

These are examples of unacceptable use and are not an exhaustive list. Nothing in this section limits any right you have under a law that cannot be excluded by agreement.

6. Meeting platforms and participant consent

Arasso is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Zoom, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, or any other meeting or communication platform. Platform names are trademarks of their respective owners.

Arasso works with the audio your computer plays and, for the interpreter, with a virtual microphone device on your computer. It does not join your meetings as a participant, use the platforms’ APIs, or modify their software. Meeting platforms set their own rules on recording, transcription, and virtual audio devices, and these can change.

The audio Arasso processes includes the voices of other participants. Some places require the consent of everyone in a conversation before it is transcribed or recorded. You are responsible for obtaining any consent the law requires, for complying with the terms of the platforms you use, and you use the Service alongside third-party platforms at your own risk.

7. Your content and AI services

Transcripts and translations generated from your sessions are yours to use. You give us permission to process your audio, glossary and text only as needed to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models.

The Service relies on third-party AI and infrastructure providers. We may change providers to keep the Service running or to improve it, under the same privacy commitments.

8. Feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions or problem reports, we may use them to improve the Service without any obligation to you.

9. Intellectual property

We own the Service, including its software, branding, and content (excluding your content). We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app for your own use, subject to these terms and any limits we apply, while these terms are in effect.

10. Privacy and data processing

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it, including how meeting audio and, in interpreter mode, your microphone audio are processed. Our Security page describes the same practices in technical detail. For organisations using Business accounts, we can sign a data processing agreement on request.

11. Disclaimers and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under consumer protection or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited (at our election) to re-supplying the Service or paying the cost of re-supply, and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is otherwise provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for errors in AI output, or for actions taken by meeting platforms or other third parties in connection with your use of the Service alongside their software.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access, withdraw any free allowance, and close accounts we consider to be linked to yours, if we reasonably consider that you have breached these terms or are circumventing any limit or charge. Where the breach is serious or ongoing we may act without prior notice, and fees already paid are not refunded.

If we suspend or terminate your access for any other reason, including where we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the Service, we will give reasonable notice where we can and refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We will post the updated version on this page and update the date above; material changes will be notified in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, and its courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
